Sauna FAQs
A backyard sauna is a wonderful way to relax, recharge, and bring the spa experience right to your own home.
We know you may have questions before adding one to your space, which is why we’ve put together this FAQ section with answers to some of the most common ones.
Still have ideas or specific questions in mind? Reach out—we’d be happy to help you design the perfect backyard sauna for your lifestyle.
What are the benefits of having a sauna at home?
A sauna can help reduce stress, soothe sore muscles, improve circulation, and promote better sleep. Plus, it’s a great way to relax and enjoy some quiet time at home.
Do I need electricity for an outdoor sauna?
That depends on the type of sauna you choose. Traditional wood-fired saunas only need a chimney or venting, while electric saunas require a power connection. We’ll help you choose the option that works best for your setup.
What’s the difference between a traditional sauna and an infrared sauna?
A traditional sauna uses heat from wood or electric heaters to warm the air around you, while an infrared sauna heats your body directly using infrared light. Both offer unique health and relaxation benefits—it really comes down to your personal preference.
Do I need a building permit?
Town permit requirements for saunas vary from town to town. In many towns, you do not need a permit for an average size sauna. We do leave this up to you, the homeowner. We will gladly assist you with the application if your town requires one.
What about leveling and preparing the site?
Many times hard pack gravel can do wonders to help level off the area. Our saunas require the same site prep as our sheds. Check out our site prep page here for more information.
