The Carriage Shed will work with you closely to meet your and your animal’s needs. If you need to add a storage room, it’s not a problem! Would you like to have a Run-In/Stall Combo? This is doable. Would you like to add an overhang to give your animals more shade? We can help you.

There are endless options that can be custom-built to fit your needs.

Run-in sheds also work great as larger woodsheds or to store equipment. You can make the building taller if you have a larger horse. Or you can have a low profile Run-In built for smaller animals.

Run In Shed FAQs

You may have many important questions about run-in sheds. No one will be as interested in or live with the outcome as long as you.

Here are some common questions, but feel free to ask any questions.

We are here to help you make the best decisions about your run-in shed.

What is a run in shed used for?

These sheds effectively shelter animals from heavy winds, rain, sun, and snow.

Your horses can find respite away from flies and annoying insects in the shade of a run-in shed and keep their hooves on dry ground.

With the shed’s front opening, your livestock can come and go whenever they want.

Which way should I face my run-in a shed?

A general rule is to face the run-in shed opening toward the south. Most of the prevailing winds come from the north or northwest, and the warmth of the sun will help keep your animals cozy; facing south is the proper way to install your shed.

What is the best base to put under my run-in shed?

A hard pack gravel pad with a lumber perimeter is the best shed foundation option in most cases.

We recommend gravel shed foundations because they provide a stable base for your shed to rest on and do a great job of draining water away from the bottom of your run-in shed.

Is the site we’ve chosen the best location?

You may have what you think is the perfect place for your barn, but you may want a second option.  If we have reservations about your choice we can explain why and suggest alternative locations.

Who is in charge of checking zoning regulations, getting permits, and putting in a foundation?

Though The Carriage Shed does supply a foundation plan and structural prints, the customer is responsible for all site work and foundation needs before the building can be delivered. They are also responsible for any post set up landscaping or finished grading. We suggest contacting your local town office for information regarding permits and zoning regulations.
