Monitor Barns

Monitor Barn

If you want a unique design for your barn, consider The Carriage Sheds Monitor Barn.

The Monitor Barn has a pushed-up center, which is excellent for a hayloft, apartment, extra storage, or ventilation if you do not install a second floor. Our Amish-built Monitor Barn comes in any size, layout, and for any purpose. It does not have to be a barn. You can have it built for your dream home, garage, retail space, or anything you would like.

If you think what you are dreaming is out of the question, just ask. Any option is available, and if something seems impossible, we can probably make it happen.

The Carriage Shed designs each Monitor Barn per customer wants and desires. We review your ideas with you and then design the floor plans and options for your monitor barn design.

Monitor Barn FAQs

No matter how familiar you may be with construction, you may have many important questions. The only barn that matters is the one built for you. Think of yourself as the foreman of the project. No one will be as interested in or live with the outcome as long as you.

Here are answers to some common questions, but feel free to ask any questions at the beginning or any point in the process.

We are here to help you make the best decisions about your barn project.

What is a monitor style barn?

Monitor-style barns have a large center aisle with shed wings on both sides. The large center section is much taller than the attached wings, creating a wall area above the shed roofs.

This wall area can display windows and provide natural light to the barn.

A Monitor Barn can either be a single-story barn or a two-story barn. The large center aisle can have a cathedral ceiling, a simple storage loft, or a full second floor to store hay or anything else.

What are the benefits of a monitor barn?

This barn style offers a much higher roof line than a gable-style barn, improving natural light and ventilation that can create a large loft or even finished living quarters.

The outer wings of the barn lend themselves naturally to horse stalls, with dimensions determined by the individual client.

Is the site we’ve chosen the best location?

You may have what you think is the perfect place for your barn, but you may want a second option.  If we have reservations about your choice we can explain why and suggest alternative locations.

Who is in charge of checking zoning regulations, getting permits, and putting in a foundation?

Though The Carriage Shed does supply a foundation plan and structural prints, the customer is responsible for all site work and foundation needs before the building can be delivered. They are also responsible for any post set up landscaping or finished grading. We suggest contacting your local town office for information regarding permits and zoning regulations.
