Riding Arena FAQs

No matter how familiar you may be with construction, you may have many important questions. The only arena that matters is the one built for you. Think of yourself as the foreman of the project. No one will be as interested in or live with the outcome as long as you.

Here are some common questions, but feel free to ask questions about options or any other details.

We are here to help you make the best decisions about your indoor arena project.

What are the benefits of an indoor arena?

In an indoor arena, outside distractions are eliminated, preventing horses from being startled by dogs, or anything else that might potentially spook them.

Indoor arenas also provide superior footing, which helps to decrease the risk of riding injuries.

And the most obvious – you are not affected by the elements!

Should I install mirrors in my indoor riding arena?

Equine arena mirrors are designed to give you instant feedback and act as a silent trainer in your riding area. They are helpful for dressage riders, hunter riders, and jumper riders watching the horse’s form over the jump.

To have mirrors are a big plus for any indoor riding arena.

Is the site we’ve chosen the best location?

You may have what you think is the perfect place for your barn, but you may want a second option.  If we have reservations about your choice we can explain why and suggest alternative locations.

Who is in charge of checking zoning regulations, getting permits, and putting in a foundation?

Though The Carriage Shed does supply a foundation plan and structural prints, the customer is responsible for all site work and foundation needs before the building can be delivered. They are also responsible for any post set up landscaping or finished grading. We suggest contacting your local town office for information regarding permits and zoning regulations.
