High Country Horse Barn FAQs

No matter how familiar you may be with construction, you may have many important questions. The only barn that matters is the one built for you. Think of yourself as the foreman of the project. No one will be as interested in or live with the outcome as long as you.

Here are some common questions, but feel free to ask any questions.

We are here to help you make the best decisions about your barn project.

What is the roof style of a High Country horse barn?

The High Country horse barn has an A-Frame roof style, The steeply angled sides resembling the letter ‘A.’ This A-frame-style roof is very popular in the United States. The steep pitch allows for efficient water runoff.

It’s an excellent choice for regions with heavy rainfall or snowfall. The symmetrical design of the A-Frame type of barn roof lends a sense of balance and harmony to the structure thus making it a visually pleasing addition to any landscape.

Is there sufficient storage in a High Country horse barn?

Storage is a prime reason why people select a High Country barn. The storage space is so abundant because a High Country barn has a full 2nd-story loft. The A-frame barn style ensures ample feed, accessories, small equipment, and overflow storage space. One of the most common second-story add-ons is a hay hole that makes distributing hay to the first-floor stalls easy.

This barn style has a relatively small footprint with maximum storage.

Is the site we’ve chosen the best location?

You may have what you think is the perfect place for your barn, but you may want a second option.  If we have reservations about your choice we can explain why and suggest alternative locations.

Who is in charge of checking zoning regulations, getting permits, and putting in a foundation?

Though The Carriage Shed does supply a foundation plan and structural prints, the customer is responsible for all site work and foundation needs before the building can be delivered. They are also responsible for any post set up landscaping or finished grading. We suggest contacting your local town office for information regarding permits and zoning regulations.
