Shed Row Barn FAQs

No matter how familiar you may be with construction, you may have many important questions. The only barn that matters is the one built for you. Think of yourself as the foreman of the project. No one will be as interested in or live with the outcome as long as you.

Here are some common questions, but feel free to ask any questions.

We are here to help you make the best decisions about your barn project.

What Is A Shed Row Barn?

In simplest terms, a shed row barn is half of a traditional barn.

A traditional barn is two rows of horse stalls separated by a spacious center aisle. A shed row barn is just one side of horse stalls, often including an overhang to protect the horses from the elements.

A Shed Row Barn is an efficient way of housing many horses in a small amount of space while at the same time not cramming horses in tight stalls. Shed Row Barns have been used for many years to house horses.

A Shed Row Barn is perfect for horses of any size; the Shed Row Barn can be customized to fit your four-footed friends best. Provide a secure, comfortable home for your horses and protect them from inclement weather.

They are also available with a tack room for safe storage of your equipment.

Are there different types of Shed Row Barns?

Shed Row Barns are a special form of customized horse barns with built-in posted overhangs. These barns can be designed with just stalls, stalls and a tackroom, or a combination of stalls and run-in opening. The options are endless!

All designs provide an economical horse or cattle barn for warmer weather conditions where space is precious.

Is the site we’ve chosen the best location?

You may have what you think is the perfect place for your barn, but you may want a second option.  If we have reservations about your choice we can explain why and suggest alternative locations.

Who is in charge of checking zoning regulations, getting permits, and putting in a foundation?

Though The Carriage Shed does supply a foundation plan and structural prints, the customer is responsible for all site work and foundation needs before the building can be delivered. They are also responsible for any post set up landscaping or finished grading. We suggest contacting your local town office for information regarding permits and zoning regulations.
